Le samedi, 2 juillet 2011 la recrue en titre 2010 Alex Labbé a enregistré sa première victoire en carrière dans la série ACT Castrol, lorsqu’il a remporté l’épreuve de 250 tours à l’Autodrome Montmagny.  Donald Theetge et Karl Allard ont complété le podium.

Saturday, July 2nd 2011, the 2010 rookie of the year title holder Alex Labbé registered a first career ACT Castrol win when he won the Autodrome Montmagny 250.  Donald Theetge and Karl Allard completed the podium.

Félicitations à l’équipe de Victoriaville pour une solide prestation.  Le meneur au classement, Patrick Laperle, a terminé 4e juste devant Dany Trépanier, Patrick Hamel qui ont complété les 250 tours.   Complétant le top 10 :  Gaëtan Lauzier, Jimmy Cormier, Jeff Laflamme et Brandon White.   Fait intéressant, Laflamme, un habitué de la drift a pris sont premier départ dans une voiture LMS et a enregistré la 9e place.  Bravo.   La recrue Yannick Tremblay a enregistré une 14e place.   Deux pilotes ont été disqualifié de l’épreuve, soit Stéphane Decoste (pour ne pas avoir obéit au drapeau céder le passage et au drapeau noir) et à Éric Giguère (dans son cas, à titre de retardataire, pour avoir gêné le passage/envoyé en dérapage le meneur Karl Allard).

Congratulations to the Victoriaville team for a solid performance.  The points leader Patrick Laperle finished 4th just ahead of Dany Trepanier and Patrick Hamel who completed all 250 laps.   Completing the top 10: Gaëtan Lauzier, Jimmy Cormier, Jeff Laflamme and Brandon White.   Interestingly, Laflamme, a drift car driver finished a solid 9th in his first career LMS start.  Congratulations to him.   Rookie contender Yannick Tremblay finished 14th.   Two drivers were disqualified from the event, Stephane Decoste (for not obeing the move over flag and the black flag) and Eric Giguere (as a lap car for not obeing the move over flag and being in the way causing a wreck to event leader Karl Allard).

 

 

Alex Labbé Outruns Three Champions For First Série ACT Castrol Win

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                             ACT-070211 Montmagny, QC – Sophomore driver Alex Labbé of St-Albert, QC earned his first career Série ACT Castrol win in a 250 lap event at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, QC on Saturday, July 2. Labbé started ninth in the 22 car field and outran three Série ACT Castrol Champions (Donald Theetge, Karl Allard and Patrick Laperle) for the win. The 2010 Rookie of the Year took the lead with 16 laps to go after contact between leader Karl Allard and a lapped car. Patrick Laperle led early in the event after pitting for tires and fuel around lap 75. He came back up through the field to take the lead on lap 116. Donald Theetge, Allard and Labbé all pitted around the lap 180 mark and charged up through the field. Allard took the lead on lap 185 and seemed to have the field covered before getting chopped by a lapped car. The contact caused Allard to spin bringing out the final caution and handing the lead to Labbé.

 

Allard charged back through the field to take third behind Theetge in second. After pitting again late, Laperle took fourth while second year competitor Dany Trepanier completed the top five. Patrick Hamel took sixth as the final car on the lead lap. Gaetan Lauzier, Jimmy Cormier, Jeff Laflamme and Brandon White rounded out the top ten. The 250 lap event took two hours and six minutes with 14 cautions. There was a battle for the lead throughout with nine lead changes among seven different drivers. With his win, Labbé received an invite to the third annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH. He joins Brian Hoar, Nick Sweet, Patrick Laperle, John Donahue, Daniel Descoste, Jeff White and Patrick Hamel on the list of invitees. The Série ACT Castrol will return to Riverside Speedway in St-Croix, Quebec for their second visit of the season. ACT CASTROL: PREMIERE VICTOIRE POUR DECOSTE

Samedi soir, il a conduit brillamment lors du St-Eustache 100 pour remporter sa première victoire en carrière dans la série ACT-Castrol. En devenant le dix-septième pilote différent à l’emporter, il a eu le meilleur devant Patrick Hamel et Karl Allard, le champion défendant.

Daniel Descoste Wins First Career Série ACT Castrol Feature in St-Eustache 100   FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                ACT-060411   St-Eustache, QC – Veteran Série ACT Castrol competitor Daniel Descoste of St-Joseph-du-Lac, Quebec earned his first career win on the series in the St-Eustache 100 at Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, Quebec. Descoste worked his way by 2010 Série ACT Castrol Champion Karl Allard on lap 66 and was never seriously contested in the remainder of the 100 lap event.

 

Troisième au départ, Descoste a été très prudent et surtout patient. Il a suivi les deux meneurs, Déry et Allard. Au 42e passage, il a réussi à soutirer la deuxième position à Déry alors que qu’ auparavant, Allard en avait fait de même aux dépens de Déry pour le poste de commande. Quelques tours plus tard et Déry a été disqualifié pour avoir tenté de projeter Patrick Laperle contre le muret de protection et l’avoir fait déraper.   Par la suite, Descoste s’est aperçu qu’Allard réduisait quelque peu la cadence et au 66e tour, il  en a profité pour dépasser le champion qui quinze passages avant le quadrillé, a vu Patrick Hamel lui soutirer la deuxième position. Quinzième au départ, Hamel n’a pas sauté les étapes et il a effectué une très belle remontée en évitant tous les pièges. A la mi-course, il était déjà sixième et il a poursuivi sagement son ascension pour connaître son meilleur résultat à St-Eustache. Le cercle des vainqueurs n’est pas très loin pour ce sympathique pilote.   Jonathan Bouvrette a prouvé qu’il maîtrisait très bien le tracé de St-Eustache. Il a toujours roulé avec les meneurs et avant la moitié de l’épreuve, il a même occupé, pendant un certain temps le deuxième rang, mais c’est en quatrième devant Patrick Laperle qu’il a franchi la ligne d’arrivée.   Pour Laperle, il n’a jamais été en mesure d’attaquer, car la voiture ne semblait pas en parfaite condition. Par deux reprises, dans les puits, on a tenté des ajustements, mais sans succès.   Que dire de l’excellente prestation de David Michaud qui semblait se diriger vers un deuxième podium d’affilée. Treizième à la tombée du drapeau vert, il occupait la troisième position lorsque dans le quatrième virage, au 68e tour, il a été victime d’un dérapage emmenant avec lui Brandon White et quelques autres dont Patrick Cliche qui a vu sa voiture pas mal amochée. Michaud a du se retirer, mais il sera à surveiller tout au long de la saison.   Donald Theetge a terminé sixième suivi de Dany Trépanier qui ne cesse d’impressionner, Alex Labbé qui malgré un dérapage a remonté la pente, Claude Leclerc et Marc-André Cliche.   Pour sa part, Martin Lacombe, l’un des favoris à l’Autodrome St-Eustache, après de multiples visites dans son puits, a été contraint à l’abandon après 44 tours.   La troisième épreuve de cette série ACT-Castrol aura lieu à l’Autodrome Montmagny, samedi prochain.     Les préliminaires Au total, 23 voitures étaient présentes pour cette deuxième manche de la série ACT-Castrol. Éliminé très tôt à Vallée-Jonction en raison d’un bris de moteur, Claude Leclerc de Lanoraie a mené de fil en fil pour résister aux nombreux assauts de Dany Trépanier de St-Édouard-de Lotbinière et Daniel Descoste de St-Joseph-du-Lac lors de la première qualification. Dans la médiane, un habitué de l’ASE, le multiple champion Jonathan Bouvrette de Blainville a profité du fait qu’il partait premier pour dominer facilement cette qualification. Karl Allard de St-Félicien, le champion en titre a pris la deuxième place devant Donald Theetge de Québec.   Dans la troisième, la victoire est allée à Patrick Hamel de St-Édouard-de-Lotbinière. Dave Michaud de Ste-Anne-des-Plaines a pris la deuxième place suivi de Patrick Laperle de St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, le meneur dans cette série ACT-Castrol avant le St-Eustache 100.   -30-

Allard fell back to third behind runner-up Patrick Hamel on the final restart. Jonathan Bouvrette and Patrick Laperle, who recovered from a spin, completed the top five.  Donald Theetge, Dany Trepanier, Alex Labbe, Claude Leclerc and Marc-Andre Cliche rounded out the top ten.   The event was completed in just 1 hour and 4 minutes with just seven cautions. Descoste, Allard and Jean-François Déry all led the event at one point. Déry was disqualified from the event due to intentional spinning Laperle after trying to turn him head-on into the wall.   Descoste becomes the second different winner in two Série ACT Castrol events so far in the 2011 season. He joins Laperle as the first two Quebec qualifiers for the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 24.   The Série ACT Castrol will be back in action next Saturday, June 11 at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, Quebec. ACT VETERAN CHAMPIONS WILL BE CHALLENGED AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

For Immediate Release                                        ACT – 020311-10           Waterbury, VT –Veterans of the American Canadian Tour (ACT) will find plenty of eager young and veteran talent to challenge them at the inaugural Goodyear Speedweeks Cup event to be held at the New Smyrna Speedway during the upcoming World Series of Asphalt Stock Car racing this month.

 

Past American Canadian Tour Champions, Brian Hoar from Williston, VT, Karl Allard, Ste Felicien, QC, Donald Theetge, Quebec City, QC and Patrick Laperle from Ste-Denis sur Richeleau, west of Montreal, have all won multiple championships during their successful careers.   Hoar is a seven time and defending ACT Champion. He has been winning races at all levels of competition for nearly 20 years. After winning five ACT Late Model championships between 1993 and 2000, he moved over to the former NASCAR Busch East division. He became a top competitor, won Rookie of the year in 2001, a Busch East race at Thunder Road Speedbowl in ’03, and the yearly track championship at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2006.   “The New Smyrna events are going to be great for our team. First we want to have some fun. We also want to try and get some momentum heading into the coming season. I think this will be the ultimate ‘neutral track’ for all our teams. I guess Joey (Polewarczyk), Patrick (Laperle) and Eric Chase are the only guys to have been there. I might have to follow Joey around for a few laps, but we are kind of tired of finishing behind him after his great run last September. Hopefully we can turn that around in a few days,” said Hoar.   Theetge and Allard are two of the most successful short track ‘long track’ (tracks ½ mile or longer) stars in the ACT organization. Laperle is the only driver to win both the ACT US title and the ACT Serie Castrol title. Laperle has also competed, won, and nearly won the overall title in the crate division at New Smyrna Speedway’s 10 days of short track racing two years ago.     Joey Pole, from Hudson, NH is currently the leader of the pack among ACT’s 21 year-old and under group of talent. He won five races in the last half of the 2010 season, with two career highlights: in September, the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the 48th annual Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in Barre, VT. Among others, Pole will be joined by Série Castrol Rookie of the Year Alex Labbe from Ste-Albert, QC, and U.S. Rookie-of-the-Year runner-up Austin Theriault from Fort Kent, ME.     Long-time ACT followers will be surprised to see Mike Bruno from Rutland, VT returning to ACT after a number of years off racing on the former Busch East Series, the Dirt Modifieds in New York and Vermont, and more recently Dirt Asphalt Modifieds.   2010 Lee USA Speedway track champion, Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH champ Aaron Fellows have joined the field for the Goodyear Speedweeks Cup.   Twenty-eight teams from New England, New York, Quebec and Ontario will head south for the unique ACT twin 100-lap format event. Sunday, February 13th and Monday February 14th will start the 2011 stock car season for those teams. Northern style qualifying and double file restarts will be in effect. On Monday the best will have to come from the rear following results from Sunday.   The traditional New Smyrna Speedway World Series opens Friday, February 11 and continues until Saturday, February 19, 2011. ACT CASTROL EDGE - Champion Karl Allard Honored at 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Banquet of Champions

Champion Karl Allard Honored at 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Banquet of Champions Donald Theetge Presented with MacTavish Award FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                             ACT-011511-05 Quebec, QC – 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Champion Karl Allard of St-Félicien, QC celebrated his championship at the 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Banquet of Champions on Saturday, January 15 at the Hotel Quebec Inn in Quebec City, Quebec. It is Allard’s first career Série ACT Castrol Edge Championship although he has finished inside the top five in the year end standings for each of the series four seasons since its creation in 2007. During the 2010 season Allard and his Denis Larue owned team put together the most dominant late model touring season since the inception of the ACT Late Model in 1992. With his record six wins, Allard claimed the top honors over runner-up and 2008 Série ACT Castrol Edge Champion Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, Quebec. Allard took home a year end point fund check of $10,000 to bring his season total to $33,810 in the 11 event season.

 

2009 Série ACT Castrol Edge Champion Donald Theetge of Quebec City, Quebec, became the 42nd recipient of the prestigious MacTavish Award. The award is named after legendary New England racer Don MacTavish who was killed in 1969 while racing at Daytona International Speedway. Theetge received the award, which is one of the top honors presented by ACT, for his support of American Canadian Tour racing for over two decades. Theetge began competing with ACT in 1988, back when the tour ran Pro Stock type cars. He has been competing with ACT off and on ever since and is considered one of the most talented and respectful drivers in the Northeast and Eastern Canada. The 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Rookie of the Year Award went to 17 year old Alex Labbé of St-Albert, Quebec. Labbé also earned fifth in the overall standings on his way to the rookie title. In his eleven starts, Labbé earned five top tens, including a career high fourth place finish on two different occasions. Drivers in attendance from the top 15 in the 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Championship Point Standings received trophies as well as over $36,000 in point fund money. Product certificates from Bassett Racing Wheels and Five Star Racecar Bodies were also awarded. The 2011 Série ACT Castrol Edge schedule has been announced with a total of 12 events across Quebec and includes two events with its sister series the ACT Late Model Tour at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, New York and New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. Many of the Quebec drivers will cure their winter racing crave with a trip to New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida for the ACT Goodyear Speedweeks on Sunday, February 13 and Monday, February 14. -30-

Pour le récipiendaire, il s’agissait d’un premier titre en carrière dans la série ACT Castrol Edge même si depuis sa création en 2007, le Félicinois a toujours terminé parmi les cinq premiers au cumulatif.

Durant la dernière saison, Allard et l’équipe Larue ont été les auteurs d’une domination jamais égalée depuis que l’ACT a opté pour la classe Late Model en 1992. Avec une nouvelle marque de six victoires en onze tentatives, Allard a mérité la couronne devant le champion de la saison 2008, Patrick Laperle de St-Denis-sur-Richelieu. Pour son exploit, Allard s’est vu remettre un chèque de 10 000 $ en provenance du fonds de points portant ainsi son total de gains pour 2010 à 33 810 $ en onze confrontations. Il est considéré à juste titre comme étant un pilote des plus talentueux et très respecté dans le nord-est des États-Unis ainsi que dans l’est du Canada. Lors de cette soirée, le jeune Alex Labbé de St-Albert qui n’est âgé que de dix-sept ans a été officiellement proclamé «la recrue de l’année». En route vers cet honneur très convoité, Labbé a terminé au cinquième échelon du cumulatif. Durant la saison, il s’est classé parmi les dix premiers en cinq occasions et à deux reprises, il s’est distingué en terminant en quatrième position, tout un exploit. Les pilotes présents parmi les 15 meilleurs au cumulatif de cette série ACT Castrol Edge en 2010 ont reçu plus de 36 000 $ en bourses et trophées. ACT: Plusieurs Canadiens à New Smyrna

Pour diffusion immédiate (05-01-11 -01)   PLUSIEURS PILOTES CANADIENS SERONT DE LA PARTIE À NEW SMYRNA   Waterbury, VT--- Le vétéran Donald Theetge a été le premier pilote québécois à s’inscrire en prévision de la Coupe Goodyear qui se tiendra à la piste New Smyrna en Floride, mais plusieurs de ses rivaux ont également fait parvenir leur inscription en prévision de ces deux épreuves qui auront lieu dans le cadre de la « Série mondiale sur courte piste asphaltée » à cet endroit. Ces deux confrontations de 100 tours sont prévues pour le dimanche 13 février ainsi que le lendemain soir.

 

Alors que milliers d’amateurs se dirigent vers Daytona durant cette période, la majorité d’entre eux se retrouvent à New Smyrna lors des soirées du 10 au 19 février. C’est une tradition qui existe depuis longtemps et tous se souviendront des présences à cet endroit de réputés pilotes tels que Richie Evans, Jerry Cook, Bugsy Stevens dans la division modifiée et celles de Junior Hanley en ce qui a trait à la classe Late Model.   La direction de l’American-Canadian Tour a annoncé que Karl Allard de St-Félicien, le champion de la série ACT-Castrol Edge y serait présent pour défendre les couleurs de l’équipe Larue tout comme Patrick Laperle de St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, double champion de l’ACT et un pilote redouté à cette piste floridienne. Laperle est venu près de remporter le titre en 2009 à New Smyrna après dominé. Malheureusement, un accident lors de la dernière soirée devait mettre fin à ses espoirs. ACT CANADIAN STARS TO INVADE NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY IN FEBRUARY   For Immediate Release                                                   ACT – 010411-01               Waterbury, VT – Quebec City racer Donald Theetge might have been the first Canadian to enter the American Canadian Tour (ACT) Goodyear Speedweek Cup event to be held at the New Smyrna Speedway in Florida, but the Canadian competitor list continues to lead the way toward the first-ever ACT events to be held during the World Series of Asphalt Short Track Racing in New Smyrna. The two 100-lap main events will be held on Sunday, February 13th and Monday, February 14th.

 

While many head to Daytona during Speedweeks in February, most asphalt short track fans can be found each night from February 10th-19th during the 10 days that is the World Series of Short Track racing in nearby New Smyrna, FL. The tradition of northern competitors heading to Florida from the days of Richie Evans, Jerry Cook, Bugsy Stevens and a host of the greatest from the Northeast Modified division to Late Model Canadian great Jr. Hanley--- New Smyrna has always been the place to be during the heart of the northern winters.   ACT announced today that 2010 Castrol Champion Karl Allard has entered his Quebec City Larue Industrial team into the inaugural Goodyear Speedweek Cup event. Allard narrowly beat out another Quebec Champion, Patrick Laperle from Montreal, QC, who has also entered the two events. Laperle is one of the few ACT drivers to compete at New Smyrna in the past few years. His family team led most of the World Series standings in 2009 in the Late Model crate division before he was wrecked in the next to last night of competition. The Allard-Laperle rivalry will get an early start in 2011.   Other notable Canadian teams that will make the trek to New Smyrna include Quebec veteran Yvon ‘The Bullet’ Bedard and London, Ontario’s Jonathan Urlin. A large number of young Canadian teams have entered, including: Justin Holtom, Tim Dorning and Spencer Macpherson from the Ottawa region of Ontario, along with Castrol regulars Patrick Hamel and Kevin Roberge from Quebec.   “We are really excited about the pre-entries we have received. I don’t think we will have any problem filling our 26-car field with the support we are getting.
