Le samedi, 2 juillet 2011 la recrue en titre 2010 Alex Labbé a enregistré sa première victoire en carrière dans la série ACT Castrol, lorsqu’il a remporté l’épreuve de 250 tours à l’Autodrome Montmagny.  Donald Theetge et Karl Allard ont complété le podium.

Saturday, July 2nd 2011, the 2010 rookie of the year title holder Alex Labbé registered a first career ACT Castrol win when he won the Autodrome Montmagny 250.  Donald Theetge and Karl Allard completed the podium.

Félicitations à l’équipe de Victoriaville pour une solide prestation.  Le meneur au classement, Patrick Laperle, a terminé 4e juste devant Dany Trépanier, Patrick Hamel qui ont complété les 250 tours.   Complétant le top 10 :  Gaëtan Lauzier, Jimmy Cormier, Jeff Laflamme et Brandon White.   Fait intéressant, Laflamme, un habitué de la drift a pris sont premier départ dans une voiture LMS et a enregistré la 9e place.  Bravo.   La recrue Yannick Tremblay a enregistré une 14e place.   Deux pilotes ont été disqualifié de l’épreuve, soit Stéphane Decoste (pour ne pas avoir obéit au drapeau céder le passage et au drapeau noir) et à Éric Giguère (dans son cas, à titre de retardataire, pour avoir gêné le passage/envoyé en dérapage le meneur Karl Allard).

Congratulations to the Victoriaville team for a solid performance.  The points leader Patrick Laperle finished 4th just ahead of Dany Trepanier and Patrick Hamel who completed all 250 laps.   Completing the top 10: Gaëtan Lauzier, Jimmy Cormier, Jeff Laflamme and Brandon White.   Interestingly, Laflamme, a drift car driver finished a solid 9th in his first career LMS start.  Congratulations to him.   Rookie contender Yannick Tremblay finished 14th.   Two drivers were disqualified from the event, Stephane Decoste (for not obeing the move over flag and the black flag) and Eric Giguere (as a lap car for not obeing the move over flag and being in the way causing a wreck to event leader Karl Allard).

 

 

Alex Labbé Outruns Three Champions For First Série ACT Castrol Win

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                             ACT-070211 Montmagny, QC – Sophomore driver Alex Labbé of St-Albert, QC earned his first career Série ACT Castrol win in a 250 lap event at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, QC on Saturday, July 2. Labbé started ninth in the 22 car field and outran three Série ACT Castrol Champions (Donald Theetge, Karl Allard and Patrick Laperle) for the win. The 2010 Rookie of the Year took the lead with 16 laps to go after contact between leader Karl Allard and a lapped car. Patrick Laperle led early in the event after pitting for tires and fuel around lap 75. He came back up through the field to take the lead on lap 116. Donald Theetge, Allard and Labbé all pitted around the lap 180 mark and charged up through the field. Allard took the lead on lap 185 and seemed to have the field covered before getting chopped by a lapped car. The contact caused Allard to spin bringing out the final caution and handing the lead to Labbé.

 

Allard charged back through the field to take third behind Theetge in second. After pitting again late, Laperle took fourth while second year competitor Dany Trepanier completed the top five. Patrick Hamel took sixth as the final car on the lead lap. Gaetan Lauzier, Jimmy Cormier, Jeff Laflamme and Brandon White rounded out the top ten. The 250 lap event took two hours and six minutes with 14 cautions. There was a battle for the lead throughout with nine lead changes among seven different drivers. With his win, Labbé received an invite to the third annual ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH. He joins Brian Hoar, Nick Sweet, Patrick Laperle, John Donahue, Daniel Descoste, Jeff White and Patrick Hamel on the list of invitees. The Série ACT Castrol will return to Riverside Speedway in St-Croix, Quebec for their second visit of the season. New Smyrna Beach, FLA - Joey Polewarczyk de Hudson au New Hampshire sera inscrit dans l’histoire comme le premier gagnant de la Coupe ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup.   Pole a remporté le premier de deux épreuves de 100 tours disputé à la piste de New Smyrna Speedway dans le cadre de Speedweeks 2011.  Il a été suivi d’une paire de pilote du Québec, Patrick Laperle et Alex Labbé.

New Smyrna Beach, FLA - Joey Polewarczyk from Hudson, NH will go down in history as the first feature winner of the ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup in history.   Pole won the first of two 100 laps event being ran at New Smyrna Speedway as part of the Speed Weeks 2011 competition.  He was followed across the line by a pair of Quebec drivers, Patrick Laperle and Alex Labbé.

 

28 compétiteurs, provenant du Québec, Ontario, Vermont, New York, Mass, Rhode Island, Maine et le New Hampshire, se sont présentés pour cette première historique.   Le président et directeur de course Tom Curley a innové à New Smyrna en mettant en vedette des courses de qualification – la norme à la piste et dans le sud étant de faire des temps chronométré pour déterminer la grille.   Patrick Laperle, le double vice-champion de la classe Crate / Late model ici à New Smyrna sera reconnu comme étant le gagnant de la première épreuve de qualification pour les voitures ACT.  Brian Hoar et Jonathan Urlin l’ont suivi.   Dans la deuxième course de qualification, Wayne Helliwell a croisé le fil le premier.  Joey Laquerre et Karl Allard le suivait.  Mike Bruno sera reconnu comme le premier pilote à avoir fait un tête-à-queue et causé une neutralisation.   Patrick Hamel a remporté la troisième épreuve de qualification devant Mark Lamberton et Pete Yetman.

28 competitors showed up for the historic first time event, hauling from Quebec, Ontario, Vermont, New York, Mass, Rhode Island, Maine and New Hampshire.   ACT President and race director Tom Curley innovated at New Smyrna show casing qualifying heats – the tradition at the facility and “down south” is to run time trials to set the field.   Patrick Laperle who is a two-time vice Champion in the Crate / Late Models at New Smyrna was the first qualifying race winner.  He won over Brian Hoar and Jonathan Urlin.   In the second qualifying race, Wayne Helliwell was the winner.  Joey Laquerre and Karl Allard completed the podium.  Mike Bruno will go down in history as the first spin in competition and drawing a caution.   Patrick Hamel won the third race with Mark Lamberton and Pete Yetman finishing behind him.

 

Au moment de disputer la grande finale, 27 voitures se sont présentées sur la grille, puisque le pilote du Vermont Eric Chase a réalisé en se déplaçant sur la fausse grille qu’il avait un roulement à bille (bearing) de roue défectueux.   Joey Pole qui a pris le départ de la position de tête a rapidement creusé une avance sur les autres.  Mais cette dernière a été réduite lorsque la première neutralisation a eu lieu au 34e tour pour la voiture immobilisée d’Austin Thériault.   C’est cependant exactement ce que Patrick Laperle (deuxième) et Eddie MacDonald, maintenant rapproché sur son pare-choc voulaient.   Laperle a pris les commandes de l’épreuve de Pole et a réussi à bâtir une belle avance.  Malheureusement pour lui, un avantage qui disparaîtra au 41e passage quand Joey Laquerre a frappé violement le mur de la 1 forçant une deuxième neutralisation.   « Le châssis est bon pour les poubelles.  La section centrale est en forme de diamant » déclara le septagénaire Laquerre.  « C’est une toute nouvelle voiture.  Même pas une course dessus.  Nous ramassons nos choses et quittons pour la maison » ajouta-t-il.   Voici ce qu’il nous a répondu quand nous lui avons demandé ce qui s’est passé : « Le 16 [Kevin Roberge] ma dumpé dans le mur ».

When feature time rolled around, only 27 cars rolled onto the grid as Vermont driver Eric Chase was a scratch because of a faulty wheel bearing which was discovered on his way to the staging area.   Joey Pole started from the pole position and stretched an early lead  which vanished when the first caution was brought out on lap 34 for Austin Theriault who is stopped on the front stretch.   It was exactly what Patrick Laperle (second) and Eddie MacDonald now on his bumper.   Laperle took the lead away from Pole and built a nice lead over him.  Unfortunately, it was reduced to nothing when the caution was drawn on lap 41 for Joey Laquerre who hit the wall hard in turn 1.   “The frame is totalled.  Center section is bent in a diamond shape” said the elder and disapointed Laquerre.  “This was a brand new car.  Not even a race on it.  We’re packing up and going home” he added.   This is what he had to say when asked what happened: “I just got dumped into the wall by the 16 [Kevin Roberge]”.

 

Le champion Castrol 2007 et 2009, Donald Theetge, a regagné les puits sous la neutralisation pour faire des ajustements à la suspension avant gauche.  Il reviendra en piste et terminera 10.   Pole et Laperle se sont échangé la tête à plusieurs reprises au cours de la prochaine séquence sous le drapeau vert.  Tandis que MacDonald, Lamberton, Hoar et Bruno se livraient bataille pour les positions 3 à 5.  MacDonald qui devait se battre avec une voiture sans adhérance.   « Nous avions une fuite d’huile importante qui graissait le pneu arrière droite.  Nous changeons le moteur dans un garage local cette nuit » nous informa Eddie MacDonald plusieurs heures après la fin de la finale.   Au 61e passage Patrick Hamel a perdu la maîtrise de sa voiture au suite d’un contact par l’arrière de son confrère québécois Kevin Roberge.

Donald Theetge, the 2007 and 2009 ACT Castrol Champion, visited the pits under caution to make adjustments to the left front suspension to address handling issues.  He would return to competition and finish 10.   Pole and Laperle would exchange the lead several times over the next stretch of green flag.  Meanwhile MacDonald, Lamberton, Hoar and Bruno where batteling behind for third thru fifth.  MacDonald in an uncharacteristically ill handling race car was holding up the group.   “We had a terrible oil leak that would soak the right rear tire.  We are going to swap the engine over at a local shop” informed us Eddie MacDonald several hours after the feature.   On Lap 61 Patrick Hamel was spun onto the front stretch grass area when he was hit by behind by fellow countryman Kevin Roberge.

Quoi que nous avons pas vu ce qui s’est passé, d’après les explications de tous, nous comprenons que Hamel a levé à peine quand il a vu MacDonald être en glissade.  Roberge qui était à le doubler au même moment n’a pu réagir et la emboutit.   Quand le group est revenu au vert, Pole a continuer de mener l’épreuve avec Laperle à ses trousses.  Mais le duo avait maintenant un nouveau partenaire de danse dans la personne du jeune, de 17 ans, Alex Labbé qui venait d’avoir le dessus sur MacDonald, Lamberton et Hoar.   Tandis que Laperle a réussi à se rapprocher de Pole avec 20 tours à faire, il n’était pas assez fort pour le passer.  « Joey était vraiment fort.  Si un jaune avait sorti, comme j’aurais eu l’extérieur c’est sûr que la fin de la course aurait été différente » déclara Laperle.

While we could not see what happened its now clear Hamel lifted when MacDonald lost momentarily control of his car.  Roberge going to the outside at the time did not lift and connected with Hamel sending him in a spin at the same time.   When the group returned to green flag, Pole continued to lead over Laperle.  But the duo now had a new dancing partner when young 17 year old Alex Labbé powered his around MacDonald, Lamberton and Hoar.   While Laperle managed to reel in Pole with 20 laps to go he did not have enough to pass him.  “Joey was strong.  Had a caution come out we would have had the outside and the outcome would be different” declared Laperle.

 

“C’étais très enlevant.  Je dois remercier Patrick.  Il m’a offert toute une compétition et très propre. C’est comme si la course était juste entre lui et moi .   C’est probablement la course la plus difficile – tant à l’offensive qu’à l’offsensive – que j’ai eu à disputer.  C’est une belle démonstration de la compétitivité de ces voitures.  J’ai vraiment apprécié d’où jétais. » déclara Pole.   Si la bataille en piste entre Pole et Laperle valait le prix d’amission, le jeune Labbé, gagnant du prix Inside Track Motorsports News voter’s choice Promising Stock Car driver award a très bien fait avec une troisième place.  En plus il avait eu à changer le moteur après la première pratique et manquer les deux dernière séances de pratique.   « Ont ne s’attendait pas à faire aussi bien.  Nous avons pris notre temps et fait une belle remontée. On était pas le plus vite, mais considérant les problèmes de moteurs nous sommes très satisfait. » nous a dit Labbé.

“Man, that was some tough racing. I've got to thank Patrick (Laperle). He raced me so clean, it really seemed like it was just between us. That was probably the hardest I've ever had to drive -- both on offense and on defense. It just goes to show how good the competition is in these cars. It was pretty cool from my point of view” declared Pole.   If the on track competition between Pole and Laperle was worth the price of admission, young 17 year old Alex Labbé, the 2010 Inside track Motorsport Magazine voter’s choice Promising Stock Car award winner, had a strong third place finish after having to go to a backup engine and missing the last two practice sessions.   “We didn’t expect such a good finish.  We took our time and did a great comeback from behind.  We weren’t the fastest car out there, but considering our engine issues we are very pleased with the results” said Labbé.

La course a été disputé en 50 minutes, ce qui est assez exceptionnel considérant la taille de la piste (demi-mile) et qu’il y a eu deux neutralisations.   Les courses reprennent à New Smyrna Speedway ce soir, lundi 14 février, avec le deuxième 100 tours pour ACT et le retour en piste des Crate / Late Models.   La grille de départ du 100 tours sera une inversion des positions à l’arrivé du premier.   Martin Latulippe et Kevin Roberge son deuxième dans les points (68) juste derrière Austin Kirkpatrick (70) dans le championnat de 8 épreuves Crate / Late model.   Synthonisez notre radio diffusion en français des deux finale à 19h en surfant à http://roy-motorsports.com/Roy_Motorsports_-_VIDEO.html

Pour diffusion immédiate (14-02-11 -03) Goodyear speedweeks Cup à New Smyrna BRILLANTE PRESTATION DU JEUNE ALEX LABBÉ DANS UNE VICTOIRE DE JOEY POLE DEVANT PATRICK LAPERLE Auteur du temps le plus rapide lors de la première séance d’essais libres, le jeune Alex Labbé de St-Albert a reçu une mauvaise nouvelle à son retour dans les puits. Craignant le pire, ses équipiers ont décidé de changer le moteur de la Toyota Camry VR Victoriaville, privant ainsi la jeune recrue de la série ACT-Castrol des deux autres périodes d’essais.

 

Sage décision cependant. Parti de la quatorzième place, Labbé a entrepris son ascension d’une façon prudente se payant ainsi des dépassements aux dépens de pilotes aussi expérimentés que Karl Allard, le champion ACT-Castrol, Joey Laquerre, Brian Hoar, Kevin Roberge, Eddie MacDonald et autres. Au 70e passage, il avait remonté jusqu’en troisième position. Cependant, les deux meneurs avaient une avance confortable et dans l’attente d’un ralentissement qui n’est jamais venu, Labbé a concentré ses efforts pour sécuriser sa place sur la troisième marche du podium à la grande joie de ses admirateurs et la surprise de plusieurs… Laperle 2e Vainqueur du dernier Milk Bowl, Joey Pole a repris où il avait laissé en remportant cette première manche devant Patrick Laperle de St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, l’un des favoris. Profitant de sa pole position, Pole a pris une avance considérable dès les premiers tours alors que neuvième sur la grille, Laperle a débuté sa remontée. Deuxième au 15e passage, Laperle a du attendre le premier ralentissement au 34e tour, pour se retrouver près du meneur. Laperle a par la suite pris la commande, mais Pole devait la reprendre lors de la deuxième relance au 42e passage. Trois tours plus tard, Laperle a repris le premier rang jusqu’au 60e où l’éventuel vainqueur s’est hissé en première jusqu’à la fin. Pour sa part, Kevin Roberge de Lévis s’est maintenu en cinquième position durant le premier tiers de la course, mais suite à un accrochage, il n’a pu maintenir la cadence et s’est classé 12e alors que le double champion ACT-Castrol, Donald Theetge a terminé 10e après avoir passé de longs moments à son puits en raison d’un problème de suspension. Karl Allard a terminé huitième, Yvon Bédard 17e et Patrick Hamel 15e. Ce dernier a causé le dernier ralentissement en raison d’un contact. Ce soir, il n’y aura pas d’épreuves de qualification. Les vingt premiers de la première manche verront leur résultat inversé. Une grosse commande pour le trio Pole, Laperle et Labbé. Laperle et Hamel À l’occasion des préliminaires, Patrick Laperle et Patrick Hamel ont visité le cercle des vainqueurs. Laperle a gagné la première confrontation après avoir livré une intéressante lutte au multiple champion, Brian Hoar. Kevin Roberge a terminé quatrième, Donald Theetge, septième et Yvon Bédard, huitième. Lors de la médiane, Wayne Helliwell Jr, le champion en titre de la piste de Lee,  a mené de fil en fil. Cette épreuve a été animée par Mark Lamberton et  Karl Allard qui ont bataillé durant la majeure partie de la confrontation de 10 tours. Lamberton a terminé deuxième devant Allard tandis que dans la dernière, Patrick Hamel a résisté aux assauts réguliers de Mike Lamberton pour l’emporter. ACT VETERAN CHAMPIONS WILL BE CHALLENGED AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

For Immediate Release                                        ACT – 020311-10           Waterbury, VT –Veterans of the American Canadian Tour (ACT) will find plenty of eager young and veteran talent to challenge them at the inaugural Goodyear Speedweeks Cup event to be held at the New Smyrna Speedway during the upcoming World Series of Asphalt Stock Car racing this month.

 

Past American Canadian Tour Champions, Brian Hoar from Williston, VT, Karl Allard, Ste Felicien, QC, Donald Theetge, Quebec City, QC and Patrick Laperle from Ste-Denis sur Richeleau, west of Montreal, have all won multiple championships during their successful careers.   Hoar is a seven time and defending ACT Champion. He has been winning races at all levels of competition for nearly 20 years. After winning five ACT Late Model championships between 1993 and 2000, he moved over to the former NASCAR Busch East division. He became a top competitor, won Rookie of the year in 2001, a Busch East race at Thunder Road Speedbowl in ’03, and the yearly track championship at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2006.   “The New Smyrna events are going to be great for our team. First we want to have some fun. We also want to try and get some momentum heading into the coming season. I think this will be the ultimate ‘neutral track’ for all our teams. I guess Joey (Polewarczyk), Patrick (Laperle) and Eric Chase are the only guys to have been there. I might have to follow Joey around for a few laps, but we are kind of tired of finishing behind him after his great run last September. Laperle is the only driver to win both the ACT US title and the ACT Serie Castrol title. Laperle has also competed, won, and nearly won the overall title in the crate division at New Smyrna Speedway’s 10 days of short track racing two years ago.     Joey Pole, from Hudson, NH is currently the leader of the pack among ACT’s 21 year-old and under group of talent. He won five races in the last half of the 2010 season, with two career highlights: in September, the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the 48th annual Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in Barre, VT. Among others, Pole will be joined by Série Castrol Rookie of the Year Alex Labbe from Ste-Albert, QC, and U.S. Rookie-of-the-Year runner-up Austin Theriault from Fort Kent, ME.     Long-time ACT followers will be surprised to see Mike Bruno from Rutland, VT returning to ACT after a number of years off racing on the former Busch East Series, the Dirt Modifieds in New York and Vermont, and more recently Dirt Asphalt Modifieds.   2010 Lee USA Speedway track champion, Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH champ Aaron Fellows have joined the field for the Goodyear Speedweeks Cup.   Twenty-eight teams from New England, New York, Quebec and Ontario will head south for the unique ACT twin 100-lap format event. Sunday, February 13th and Monday February 14th will start the 2011 stock car season for those teams. Northern style qualifying and double file restarts will be in effect. On Monday the best will have to come from the rear following results from Sunday.   The traditional New Smyrna Speedway World Series opens Friday, February 11 and continues until Saturday, February 19, 2011. ACT CASTROL EDGE - Champion Karl Allard Honored at 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Banquet of Champions

Champion Karl Allard Honored at 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Banquet of Champions Donald Theetge Presented with MacTavish Award FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                             ACT-011511-05 Quebec, QC – 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Champion Karl Allard of St-Félicien, QC celebrated his championship at the 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Banquet of Champions on Saturday, January 15 at the Hotel Quebec Inn in Quebec City, Quebec. It is Allard’s first career Série ACT Castrol Edge Championship although he has finished inside the top five in the year end standings for each of the series four seasons since its creation in 2007. During the 2010 season Allard and his Denis Larue owned team put together the most dominant late model touring season since the inception of the ACT Late Model in 1992. With his record six wins, Allard claimed the top honors over runner-up and 2008 Série ACT Castrol Edge Champion Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, Quebec. Allard took home a year end point fund check of $10,000 to bring his season total to $33,810 in the 11 event season.

 

2009 Série ACT Castrol Edge Champion Donald Theetge of Quebec City, Quebec, became the 42nd recipient of the prestigious MacTavish Award. The award is named after legendary New England racer Don MacTavish who was killed in 1969 while racing at Daytona International Speedway. Theetge received the award, which is one of the top honors presented by ACT, for his support of American Canadian Tour racing for over two decades. Theetge began competing with ACT in 1988, back when the tour ran Pro Stock type cars. He has been competing with ACT off and on ever since and is considered one of the most talented and respectful drivers in the Northeast and Eastern Canada. The 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Rookie of the Year Award went to 17 year old Alex Labbé of St-Albert, Quebec. Labbé also earned fifth in the overall standings on his way to the rookie title. In his eleven starts, Labbé earned five top tens, including a career high fourth place finish on two different occasions. Drivers in attendance from the top 15 in the 2010 Série ACT Castrol Edge Championship Point Standings received trophies as well as over $36,000 in point fund money. Product certificates from Bassett Racing Wheels and Five Star Racecar Bodies were also awarded. The 2011 Série ACT Castrol Edge schedule has been announced with a total of 12 events across Quebec and includes two events with its sister series the ACT Late Model Tour at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, New York and New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. Many of the Quebec drivers will cure their winter racing crave with a trip to New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida for the ACT Goodyear Speedweeks on Sunday, February 13 and Monday, February 14. -30-

Pour le récipiendaire, il s’agissait d’un premier titre en carrière dans la série ACT Castrol Edge même si depuis sa création en 2007, le Félicinois a toujours terminé parmi les cinq premiers au cumulatif.

Durant la dernière saison, Allard et l’équipe Larue ont été les auteurs d’une domination jamais égalée depuis que l’ACT a opté pour la classe Late Model en 1992. Avec une nouvelle marque de six victoires en onze tentatives, Allard a mérité la couronne devant le champion de la saison 2008, Patrick Laperle de St-Denis-sur-Richelieu. Pour son exploit, Allard s’est vu remettre un chèque de 10 000 $ en provenance du fonds de points portant ainsi son total de gains pour 2010 à 33 810 $ en onze confrontations. Il est considéré à juste titre comme étant un pilote des plus talentueux et très respecté dans le nord-est des États-Unis ainsi que dans l’est du Canada. Lors de cette soirée, le jeune Alex Labbé de St-Albert qui n’est âgé que de dix-sept ans a été officiellement proclamé «la recrue de l’année». En route vers cet honneur très convoité, Labbé a terminé au cinquième échelon du cumulatif. Durant la saison, il s’est classé parmi les dix premiers en cinq occasions et à deux reprises, il s’est distingué en terminant en quatrième position, tout un exploit. Les pilotes présents parmi les 15 meilleurs au cumulatif de cette série ACT Castrol Edge en 2010 ont reçu plus de 36 000 $ en bourses et trophées. Joey Polewarczyk a remporté la 48e édition du Milk Bowl, une course à 3 étapes de type monza, disputée à la piste de Thunder Road Speedbowl le 3 octobre.   Pilotant des voitures ACT Late Model, 61 participants ont tenté de se tailler une place dans la course de 50-75-75 tours avec positions inversées.   Les positions 1-24 ont été déterminée par temps chronométrés et par des courses de quailfication, tandis que les positions de 25 à 30 ont été déterminée par une course B-feature et un choix ACT (meilleur non qualifié ACT 100%)

Joey Polewarczyk won the 48th annual Milk Bowl, a monza style 3 segment race, held at Thunder Road Speedbow on October 3rd.   Driving ACT legal Late Models 61 participants attempted to qualify for the 50-75-75 laps segment inverted start race.   Positions 1-24 were set via time trials and qualification races, while 25 to 30 were set by a B-feature and an one provisional (best non qualified ACT 100% competitor).

 

Joey Polewarcyk qui vient de remporter l’épreuve au New Hampshire Motor Speedway a fait le 2e meilleur temps chronométré avec un 13.023.   Le meilleur temps a été tourné par le Champion ACT 2010 Brian Hoar.  Le seul Canadien a s’être taillé une place dans la finale a été Patrick Laperle qui a tourné un 13.131.   Polewarzyck a remporté le premier segment et a terminé 7e et 4e dans les deux autres segment pour un total de 12 points.   Hoar a terminé deuxième avec des finish de 2, 13 et 5 pour un total de 20.   La troisième place est allé au vainqueur de l’an dernier, John Donahue, qui a terminé 3, 9 et 8 pour un total de 20.   Le bris d’égalité a été brisé par la position de fin du dernier segment.   Le deuxième segment a été remporté par Pete Potvin III, qui en était dans sa dernière course à Thunder Road avant de se relocaliser en Floride.   Le troisième segment a été remporté par le multiple Champion ACT Jean-Paul Cyr.   Le québécois Patrick Laperle n’a pu faire mieux qu’une 6e place avec des résultats de 8, 11 et 11 pour un combiné de 30.  Considérant la performance de sa voiture dans le premier segment, l’accident dans le 2e segment.  Laperle et sont équipe ont sauvé la journée… mais c’est tout de même bien loin de l’objectif : la victoire d’un 4e milk bowl.   Trois autres pilotes du Québec ont tenté de se qualifier dans l’épreuve prestigieuse : Yvon Bédard, Daniel Bergeron et la recrue ACT Castrol Alex Labbé.   Labbé qui a tourné le 24e meilleur temps est venu le plus près de se tailler une place.  Malheureusement il a été impliqué dans un tête-à-queue qui là replacé à la queue du peloton, A ce moment il était à une position de se qualifier, repositionné à l’arrière et seul avec son rêve de participer dans son premier Milk Bowl.

Joey Polewarcyk hot off a New Hampshire Motor Speedway win turned 2nd fastest time trial to secure his way in the main event with a lap time of 13.023.   Quickest time, a 13.001, was turned by ACT 2010 Champion Brian Hoar.  While the only Canadian competitor to secure his way into the main event was turned by Patrick Laperle with a 13.131.   Polewaryzyck won the first segment and finished 7th and 4th in the later two segments for a total combined score of 12.   Second place went to Hoar who scored 2, 13 and 5 for a total of 20.   Third place went to last year’s winner John Donahue who scored 3, 9 and 8 for a total of 20.    The tie between Hoar and Donahue was broken by virtue of the last segment finishing order.   Second segment was won by Pete Potvin III, who was competing in his last race at Thunder Road before moving to Florida.   Third segment was won by multi-time ACT Champion Jean-Paul Cyr.   Quebec’s Patrick Laperle could not do better than a 6th place overall with segment scores of 8, 11 and 11.  Considering the handling of his car in segment 1, the crash in segment 2.  Laperle and crew salvaged a bad day... but short – by  a ton - of his 4th Milk bowl win.   Three other Quebec drivers attempted to qualify for the prestigious event: Yvon Bédard, Daniel Bergeron and ACT Castrol rookie Alex Labbé.   Labbé who turned 24th fastest time came closest to make the field.  Unfortunately he was involved in a spin and wreck, at the time he was one spot from being qualified, which sent him to the back of the field and with only a dream of racing his way into his first Milk Bowl.
