2011 World Series of Asphalt - night 2

New Smyrna Beach, Fla – Une deuxième journée dans les World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing tout aussi payante pour les pilotes Roberge et Latulippe en classe Crate / Late Models.

New Smyrna Beach, Fla – The second night of competition in the Crate / Late Models that are part of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing was as good as the previous one for Quebec drivers Kevin Roberge and Martin Latulippe.

If yesterday Latulippe was credited with the top honours, a win, tonight Roberge is credidted with second place in the 25 laps feature. Latulippe was credited with fourth.

If it wasn’t for the fact that it took 20+ minutes to get to lap two on the scoreboard, fans got their money’s worth with on track action.

Roberge who took the green flag in 5th place climbed positions up to second. Unfortunately he just didn’t have enough for Austin Kirkpatrick (winner) and John Nutley and crossed the stripe in third place.

Post race inspection revealed that Nutley was running out of spec valve springs and was disqualified for it. Because of this Roberge gets second place and Latulippe fourth place.

Kevin’s team was going nuts when they found out... anxiously waiting for Kirkpatrick’s tech result... even going so far as dreaming for as DSQ on the winenr. But it wasn’t the case. Mario Roberge (father) and Dany Lagacé were all smiles with the youngster’s results, even if it would have been a third place finish.

Latulippe who started behind Roberge got a scare on the initial start. Then pole sitter Jared Marks had a bad start and the cars bumped each other behind him before getting to the start / finish line. At that time Latulippe got into Roberge sending him in a sping. Thank god for the fact that no laps were in the books and everyone reclaimed their starting positions as it was a complete restart.

Then it got bad. Over 20 minutes to get over the 1 lap complete mark. False starts, line up issues, crashes.... even the pace trucks had a hard time in the sequence.

At one point Latulippe had a bad start and saw a couple competitors go by him.

Positive report card for the two drivers. Unfortunately not has good for Brandon Watson who couldn’t bring home better than 11th place (10 after Nutley’s DSQ) after starting deep in the field.

PR - RPM Speedway

Maryeve Dufault; Tony Marks Rev Up With VR-12 For 2011 ARCA Season

"New Sponsor To Racing Aligns With ARCA's Newest Star!"

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA (February 12, 2011) - - Officials from Tony Marks Racing (TMR) and Freezetone® Products, the manufacturer of VR-12 announced this morning from Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway that VR-12 has aligned itself with the newest team in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driven by Maryeve (pronounced Mary-EV) Dufault (pronounced DU-FAU) for the full 2011 season as the title sponsor of the team's No. 12 entry beginning with this afternoon's Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200.

VR-12 is manufactured by Freezetone® Products, USA, leader in International car maintenance products and environmentally safe solutions. Luis M. Latour, President, has 30 years of experience in manufacturing ecological products for the automotive industry. With his team of experts, he was able to develop a solution that saves consumers money while at the same time lessening the environmental damage caused by most automotive chemical solutions.

VR-12 is a revolutionary green product that is used to guard against coolant problems. This new invention is the ultimate cooling system protection. It is like a vitamin for cooling systems, composed of organic components and mixed through a synergetic process. VR-12 offers an alternative to topping off radiators and cooling systems versus conventional methods. A special formula containing Organic Acid Technology (OAT) will keep vehicles running at pick performance for longer periods of time while eliminating flushing and waste. It should be used as part of monthly radiator and cooling system maintenance. VR-12 is a green product that protects radiators and cooling components from rust and corrosion, preventing expensive coolant replacement.

"We're very excited about today's announcement with VR-12," said Tony Marks, owner of TMR. "This partnership with VR-12 fits the platform that we believe in at TMR and it is a product that I personally endorse. It is our goal to make others in racing and those consumers on the road know the importance of what VR-12 can do and I believe we'll start showing that this afternoon! To have Maryeve (Dufault) represent VR-12 is a win-win situation. She fits their marketing model perfectly and I know that she can and will get the job done behind the wheel of the VR-12 Dodge Charger."

For Dufault, a native of Sorel, Quebec Canada the opportunity to work with a growing company like VR-12 fits right into her spectrum. "What an honor it will be to drive the No. 12 VR-12 Dodge Charger this season," explained Dufault, who will roll from the 24th position later today in her ARCA Racing Series debut. "Mr. Latour believes in our race team and we believe that we can help him accelerate the growth and distribution of his product through Tony Marks Racing. It's a real honor to be the one to boast their product week in and week out!"

Vehicle maintenance is important, especially as consumers are postponing buying new cars in a recovering economy. VR-12 is appealing as a maintenance solution for radiators and car coolant systems because it can be used with all makes and models and mix with any antifreeze/coolant type, color or brand. Any vehicle owner, motorcycle, heavy truck, light duty truck, RV' or boat, experiencing poor vehicle performance due to a week and neglected coolant can use VR-12. Also, other coolants are compatible with VR-12 so consumers can use this product when changing engine coolant in conjunction with what they are already using.

"VR-12 is proud to be affiliated with Tony Marks Racing and Maryeve Dufault for the 2011 ARCA Racing Series season," says Luis M. Latour, President of Freezetone®.  "VR-12 is designed to take care of your vehicle and save money while saving the environment. It helps conserve resources because it can re-energize your antifreeze and boosts your cooling system. We feel that no one can better help us spread that message than the TMR team. We're extremely proud of the accomplishments that the team has achieved here at Daytona and we're looking forward not only to today's race but for the rest of the season."

The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (80 laps / 200 miles) is the first of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 48th ARCA race held at Daytona is a three-day show. The event will take the green flag later today shortly after 4:30 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com.  All times are local.

World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing - night 1

New Smyrna, Fla - Une première soirée remplies de rebondissement à New Smyrna Speedway, d’abord des disqualifications en time trial, de l’indiscipline en piste et d’autres disqualifications lors des inspections d’après course.

New Smyrna, Fla – A night filled with emotion and rebounds at New Smyrna Speedway, first with some disqualification in post time trials, then indiscipline on track during the races and again in tech after the races.

Commentaires de Martin Latulippe qui vient d'apprendre qu'il est classé premier.

Brandon Watson comments after the race, about leading and being wrecked.

In the IMCA/Florida Modified and Super Late classes there was so many cautions and even a couple red flags that made the night drag on... officials even cut the sk feature from 30 to 15 lasp.

Vallée Jonction’s Martin Latulippe won and Lévis’ Kevin Roberge finished 3rd in the Crate / Late Model ranks.

Latulippe who started on the pole after some disqualification in post time trial and due to the inversion ran well but wasn’t fast enough to hold back Dalton Zehr and conceded the top spot over.

“We just didn’t have the right gear. The car was welded to the track but the cut off would kick in at the flagman” said Latulippe.

Following post race inspection we would lean that Zehr was using illegal valve springs and was disqualified.

In addition to Zehr, Ontario drivers Brandon Watson and Cole Powell also powered around Latulippe. They even took over the lead of the race. With only a few feet remaining, coming out of turn four, Powell dumped Watson sending him in a spin at the front of the field.

Zehr, Latulippe, Austin Kirkpatrick, Kevin Roberge and Jerick Johnson cross the stat/finish line in that order. Even Kirkpatrick did so going backwards as a spun due to the incident.

The winner from that ordeal was Roberge. Eight with one lap to go he was credited with fourth place when Watson was taken out, Powell diqualified for rough driving, the other Ontario driver Shawn McWhirter was also involved in the incident and dropped to the back of the field as he collected Watson car sitting across the track.

Races resume tomorrow. We are covering the races live on radio. You can follow also on http://roy-motorsports.com/Roy_Motorsports_-_VIDEO.html

p.s. interviews and video footage will be placed online tomorrow morning.

Dixon Ticonderoga HB Pencil

I begin this review with an old British television clip: the opening credits and introduction of an episode of Roald Dahl's Tales of the Unexpected. Although best known around the world for his children's stories, Dahl also wrote wicked short stories for adults. He did this using the original predecessor of the pencil I review now: the Dixon Ticonderoga. The introduction on this episode of Tales of the Unexpected was typical: Dahl talking to camera from what purported to be his study, fiddling with a pencil as he spoke.

He was particular about the pencils and paper with which he wrote. The Ticonderoga was not, as far as I know, available in Great Missenden, England at the time, and I guess he stocked up during his frequent visits to the USA. Writing sessions would begin with sharpening six pencils, and he would change pencils rather than stop in mid-flow to sharpen a dull point. When I bought the review pencils from Cult Pens, I was tempted to purchase a box of twelve, so that I could put them into a cup and admire them by the dozen. Ticonderogas appear best in bulk: there's a scene in one episode from the last season of Mad Men where Joan Harris is seen extracting a number of them from the false ceiling. I've not had a chance to watch much that season again yet, but the Ticonderoga plays a small, but important role in Season Four. (And I recall another similar scene where Mulder has done the same in The X-Files basement.)

The Ticonderoga, long established as an American-made pencil, is now produced in Mexico and China. The Dixon name is part of the Fila stable of companies (it acquired Lyra a few years ago). It has very little currency here in Europe and until last year I had never even heard of it. When I saw that Cult Pens had begun to stock it however, I was keen to try one for review.

The pencil itself is finished in what might be called US Standard Office Pencil Yellow.  This isn't the golden yellow of the Staedtler Noris; it's closer to the colour of honey, Bath stone or even mustard.  It has a slight reddish cast to it.  Unlike most contemporary pencils, this one bears no barcodes, country of origin stamps or any extraneous marking except the simple "Dixon Ticonderoga 2 HB" in green foil blocking.  The ferrule, stamped from green-painted metal, bears two yellow stripes.  New in the box, it comes unsharpened.  This pencil certainly looks as though it means business.  But how does it write?

Surprisingly well, I found.  If this lead is anything like the old American leads used by Roald Dahl, I can see why they were his favourite pencil for long spells of writing.  The wood is cedar, and the lead is a medium slate-grey shade.  The point lasts a long time and during a week where I used the Ticonderoga exclusively, I found that quite long spells passed between sharpenings.  It sharpened very nicely as well.  The eraser, being a bog-standard pink pearl type, will do at a pinch if nothing else is to hand, but I prefer to use my modern white plastic erasers.

However it was noticeable that some shortcuts have been taken in production.  This is, after all, an everyday office pencil.  Quality control is questionable. One of my pencils was bent; not quite a banana, and not as bad as some examples out there, but certainly deviating from straight and true as can be seen in this photo (taken indoors):

It was this pencil that I used as my sample for this review.

Overall this is a good pencil for everyday use, though the Staedtler Noris 122 is a better overall pencil in my view, largely because of the QC issues.

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a set of concepts, tools and applications which has been so successful in manufacturing industry that we are now witnessing experimentation in the transference of Total Quality Management to the public sector provision of government, health and education in North America, Europe and elsewhere. TQM is starting to set a new paradigm for management approaches in the public sector and \"not for profit\" enterprises. All key public service managers should at least need to know the basics of TQM, its possibilities and limitations for the public sector, and particularly the types of applications which could work for them. For all public sector managers this book provides: a clear understanding of the key concepts of TQM; a critical understanding of their relevance to the public sector; empirical evidence of TQM applications in government, health and education; and exploration of the public sector TQM possibilitites yet to be realized. It draws throughout on case examples from Britain, Canada, the USA and continental Europe which illustrate the application of TQM to the public sector.

On a fateful day in February 2002, campaign manager Clara Rojas accompanied longtime friend and presidential hopeful Ingrid Betancourt into an area controlled by the powerful leftist guerrilla group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Armed with machine guns and grenades, the FARC took them hostage and kept them in the jungle for the next six years.  After more than two years of captivity deep in the Colombian jungle, surrounded by jaguars, snakes, and tarantulas, miles from any town or hospital, Clara Rojas prepared to give birth in a muddy tent surrounded by heavily armed guerrillas. Her captors promised that a doctor would be brought to the camp to help her. But when Rojas went into labor and began to suffer complications, the only person on hand was a guerrilla wielding a kitchen knife. The guerrillas drugged Rojas with anesthetic while one of them slit open her abdomen. Her son, Emmanuel, was born by amateur cesarean section in April 2004. His survival was miraculous, but her joy was soon cut short when the FARC took him from her when he was only eight months old. For the next three years, Clara was given no information about him, but her desire to one day see him again kept her alive. In early 2008, Clara was finally liberated and reunited with her sonâ€"to whom this book is dedicated.

Whether writing about the joys of being turned over her lover\'s knee and spanked into erotic bliss, performing in a red-light district peep show, educating physicians on the finer points of the gynecological exam, or attending a California Men\'s Movement gathering to lobby for the pro-pornography platform, Queen is compassionate and intel ligent - and deliciously provocative. When she was a kid, Carol Queen was called \"Queen the Queer.\" \"Queer\" was still very much an insult at the time, not the term of power and pride it has recently become. Similarly, sex was called a bad thing, a nasty thing, even for, perhaps especially for, good girl feminists. Like other sex-positive folks of her generation, Carol Queen is re-evaluating the range and possibilities of sexual experience and identity. This book gathers previously published essays on topics ranging from pelvic exams, pornography law, the men\'s movement, sex as art, Madonna, and sacred whoredom. GEORGIA, Vt. -- The inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup may serve as a showcase for the ACT Late Model Tour next week, but RPM Motorsports hopes it serves as a springboard to another championship season.

RPM will field two cars at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway in 100-lap main events on Sunday, Feb. 13, and Monday, Feb. 14 -- one for seven-time ACT champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., and another for second-year driver Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine.

It seems the goal -- beyond visiting Victory Lane -- is to get a two-car team up to speed as quickly as possible.

"It's crucial that we get out there and start working and getting to know each other," Hoar said. "I really don’t know Austin that well -- I look forward to spending some time with him. Obviously, working with (team owner and crew chief Rick Paya) will be great to see what becomes of him. I’m sure Austin puts enough pressure on himself.

"It will be a lot of fun to work with a new driver and see where it goes."

Theriault, just 17 and fresh of a strong rookie season in ACT last year, said he hopes to soak in as much information as he can from the likes of Hoar and Paya. RPM briefly utilized a two-car operation on a part-time basis in recent seasons.

"It's definitely going to be new waters that we have to explore as individuals," Theriault said. "A couple of us coming over from the old team, we have to explore what RPM's all about. I know what they're about, but we have to get in sync with Rick and the way he likes stuff done.

"This is a good opportunity to do that before points start to count and before the bulk of the races get going to see what we need to work on, see what we have down pat and see what we can improve on in terms of communication and working as a team."

Paya is eager to unload in Florida and see his teams start to flourish.

"I'm looking forward to going down there," Paya said. "We're one big team under one banner, we really are, and that's the part I'm excited about."

Even though a fair amount of the Florida trip will be devoted to gelling as an organization, Hoar was quick to point out that he remains focused on the same thing he usually does behind the wheel of the No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger -- whether it's an off-season race or not.

"My idea is to go down and try to win," said Hoar, who owns the all-time ACT mark with 27 career victories.

"There's obviously no pressure at all with these races, in terms of points or anything like that," Paya said. "But at the same time, I want to win. That's just me. Everytime we go somewhere, we want to give the guys the best cars we can to try and do that."

A 28-car starting field expected for both nights will stand in the way of that, but so, too, will a race track that RPM teams have never competed on. In fact, only three of the ACT teams entered next week have race experience on New Smyrna's fast, high-banked half-mile.

Hoar has been racing long enough in the northeast that he rarely visits tracks he's never been to before, though his experience allows him to adapt quickly to new places. For Theriault's part, he's become accustomed to new things, as his rookie season was peppered with first visits to facilities virtually every week.

"Yeah. everything really has been new for me, and this is going to be no different," said Theriault, who will drive the No. 57 Varney Insurance Ford Fusion. "It seems we were always a new team, new people, new track, new car. I guess I'm getting used to change.

"Hopefully there will come a day this year where the tracks will become more familiar. But being with RPM, it's a very, very professional organization. You can see the teamwork, and how it succeeds toward victory. With all their success, there's nothing they leave behind, no details that they miss."

Teams will qualify through traditional heat races for Sunday night's event. On Monday night, the finishing order from that first race will be inverted to comprise the starting grid for the second 100-lap main. An overall champion will be determined based on lowest total "score," determined by adding the numeric totals of a team's two finishes.

"Certainly it shines a little light on us," Hoar said of having ACT compete during Speedweeks, just days before the Daytona 500 a few miles down the road. "We really get a couple of premiere nights out of the deal. In all the Late Model Digest magazines and newspapers, ACT is recognized as a strong Late Model series. I think sometimes the 'Late Model' thing gets us tagged as a “baseline division’, but I think our race model, the number of cars we have and the competition is strong.

"This is a good chance for us to showcase that."

Green flag is slated for 7:30 p.m. both nights.

Golden Globe nominee* Courteney Cox (Friends) stars in the hilariously sexy hit comedy Cougar Town: The Complete First Season. After spending the last seventeen years as a wife and mother, recently divorced Jules (Cox) has reluctantly waded back into the dating pool and quickly finds herself in over her head. Now forty-something and single, Jules tackles real-life issues - dating, parenting and friendship. It doesn\'t help Jules that her two best friends can hardly stand each other, her ex-husband is hanging around more now than he did during their marriage...and there\'s that handsome divorced neighbor that Jules can\'t quite get out of her head. Created by Kevin Biegel and Bill Lawrence (Scrubs), Cougar Town is packed with laugh-out-loud moments and features a cast of television\'s brightest comedic stars. Cougar Town: The Complete First Season struts its stuff in this DVD collection, along with exclusive bonus features and one or two special surprises. Cougar Town - it\'s more than a place, it\'s a state of mind. Though Courteney Cox followed Friends with FX\'s deeply cynical Dirt, she returns to her comedy roots with ABC\'s far sunnier Cougar Town. Created by Kevin Biegel and Bill Lawrence of Scrubs, the sitcom centers on 41-year-old Jules Cobb, a divorced real estate agent who lives in the Florida suburbs with her 18-year-old son Travis (Dan Byrd, from CW\'s underrated Aliens in America), who finds his excitable parents embarrassing. With her form-fitting dresses and sassy gal pals, party girl Laurie (Busy Philipps, Dawson\'s Creek) and bossy mom Ellie (Christa Miller, playing a variation on her Scrubs harpy), Jules is more Desperate Housewife than Friend, and even starts the show by having a fling with a young hottie, though she\'s just as much of a perfectionist as Monica. If Cougar Town revolves around women (and wine), the men--Cobb\'s lovable loser ex Bobby (Brian Van Holt), Ellie\'s goofball husband Andy (Ian Gomez, The Drew Carey Show), and bar owner Grayson (Ally McBeal\'s Josh Hopkins, the Mike to her Susan)--get plenty of face time. The series proved a bigger hit than Dirt, but it gets off to a bumpy start with shrill acting, lines that skew more crude than clever, and an unhealthy relation to body image, like the way Jules licks chocolates before throwing them away. Fortunately, the writing improves, the actors settle down, and chemistry of the \"cul-de-sac crew\" gels as the year unfurls. Renewed for a second season, the first features Lisa Kudrow as a catty dermatologist, Sheryl Crow as Grayson\'s age-appropriate girlfriend, and scene-stealing General Hospital vet Carolyn Hennesy as Barb. Don\'t let the title fool you, this is one sex comedy that prizes community building over bed hopping. As Lawrence states in the featurette, \"No one\'s ever said the word cougar on Cougar Town.\" --Kathleen C. Fennessy

THE WORLD’S LARGEST talent and model scouting company, led by celebrity boy-band promoter Lou Pearlman, recruited over 150,000 members across America from 2000 to 2003. Based in Orlando, Florida, this enterprise operated under many names: Studio 58 Models; WHY Models; eFashionShow.com; emodel.com; Options Talent; Trans Continental Talent; Wilhelmina Scouting Network; and Web Style Network. It charged upfront fees ranging from $395 to $995 to put an aspiring model’s picture on their website, a service purportedly used by 1000 modeling agencies seeking new talent. “You could be discovered,” their army of talent scouts pitched. “Become a model!” “You have the look!” Extremely controversial, subject to many local news reports, it also received national attention in Jane, Newsweek, and on Dateline NBC. More than 2000 complaints were filed with the Florida Attorney General’s Office, many with signed and notarized affidavits from consumers who felt they had been scammed. An investigation, led by Assistant Attorney General Jacqueline Dowd, was opened in July 2002. Everyone expected Attorney General Charlie Crist to act. But he didn’t. Why not? Using previously secret documents obtained through public records requests, Under Investigation takes you inside the Florida Attorney General’s Office to see how the two-year investigation unfolded, and then was ultimately shut down under suspicious circumstances.

Canadian Maryeve Dufault Ready to Tackle Daytona in ARCA Season Opener

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (February 7, 2011) - - Testing is now complete and ARCA Rookie Maryeve Dufault is ready to put the knowledge gained to use in the ARCA season opener at Daytona International Speedway on February 12. Dufault, who previously competed in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, will attempt to qualify the No. 12 Dodge Charger entry for Tony Marks Racing (TMR), the newest multi-car operation in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

“I am really looking forward to the race weekend at Daytona,” said Dufault. “We have done quite a bit of testing over the last few months and after our test at Daytona in January I feel quite prepared for this weekend.” The team ran the three-day open test at Daytona in January and Dufault delivered solid results putting the No. 12 Dodge Charger 28th out of 58 competitors with a fast lap of 49.203 seconds/ 182.916 miles per hour.

“I was pretty happy with our test and how the car felt in the draft,” explained Dufault when asked about Daytona. “I had so much information from the team and other drivers about the draft, and how the car would handle differently so I felt prepared when I actually got in the draft for the first time. The car was very well balanced and stable and I thought it was really exciting. It was actually fun and I really enjoyed the drafting. I know that it will be a little different in the race, but I think with the testing and preparation that we have done that I will be ready.”

Dufault has reams of experience behind her effort with veteran crew chief Larry Moore at the helm of the No. 12 TMR Dodge Charger. Moore was the crew chief for 2008 ARCA Champion Justin Allgaier who qualified 30th at the 2008 Daytona event and finished in second place.

“It will certainly be a challenge since we will be attempting to make the race on qualified time,” explained Moore. “It looks like there will be quite a few cars so we need to be prepared and have the No. 12 ready to go when we arrive. Maryeve has shown real promise in her testing sessions at New Smyrna and Daytona so I feel confident that she’ll get qualified and make the race. Right now our main objective is to get this car qualified on Friday (Feb. 11) and make the race and then finish well on Saturday.”

Dufault, who caught the eye of the Dodge Motorsport representative while racing for the Dodge Quebec Dealers during the 2010 season, will be serving as the Dodge Motorsport development driver for the 2011 ARCA season. “I am very thankful to Dodge and Tony Marks for their support and for giving me this opportunity,” said Dufault. “Dodge has a great history supporting drivers such as Brad Keslowski and Kurt Busch and Tony is putting 110% effort behind this team, so I feel flattered to be in this position. I am really excited to get the season underway and bring home a good result for Dodge and Tony Marks Racing this weekend.”

Dufault and the TMR team will attempt to qualify the No. 12 Dodge Charger on Friday, February 11 at 2 p.m. and then race in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona on Saturday, February 12, 2011. The race will be televised live on SPEED at 4:30 p.m. ET.

About Tony Marks Racing (TMR):

Tony Marks Racing was founded in 2009 through the passion for racing of team owner and former driver Tony Marks. Marks is the successful owner of TMT, Inc., a logistics, warehousing and packaging company with over 400 employees whose
customers are mainly comprised of Fortune 100 companies.

Marks began his racing career in 1985 getting behind the wheel of everything from
drag racers, Dirt Late Models, SCCA Formula Fords, USAC F2000 Open Wheel and ARCA cars. Tony personally raced until 2005 amassing numerous wins, championships and track records along the way until he then changed his focus from driver to owner and began building racing programs for his children Jared (16 years old) and Rachel (13 years old). Under the auspices of TMR, Jared began his racing career in 2002 in quarter midgets and now competes in late model, CRA, ASA and ARCA Series events while Rachel continues her development program racing quarter midgets and Bandoleros.

TMR has been at the forefront of charitable giving through its’ “Driving Against Hunger” and “Million Meal Challenge” race programs which have raised over $200,000 for Forgotten Harvest in 2010 at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series events at Michigan International Speedway.

For the NASCAR events TMR along with TMT, Inc. partnered with Forgotten Harvest for the “Million Meal Challenge For Our Kids” which helps to bridge the hunger gap while schools are out of session and feeds 20,000 children per day in the Detroit metro area. Forgotten Harvest was significantly displayed on the entry of Chase Austin during both the Truck and Nationwide events at Michigan International Speedway along with logos of “Million Meal Challenge” sponsors Walgreen’s, United Race Group, Holyfield’s Choice Alka-Power Water and Vitamin Spice. Evander
Holyfield was also instrumental in the challenge, acting as Grand Marshall for the August race and announcing his “Fight Against Hunger” on behalf of Forgotten Harvest.

As the first race team to “Drive Against Hunger” through their partnership with Forgotten Harvest, TMR plans to continue their alliance with Forgotten Harvest and once again “Drive Against Hunger” during the 2011 season.

The Grey Dogs were salivating, while awaiting our arrival.

It was a cold, grey, January day but the promise of spring tides took us to Ellenabeich on the Island of Seil. David, Jennifer, Jim, Phil and I launched our kayaks in the little harbour of this former slate mining centre.

The harbour at Ellenabeich is sheltered from the open Firth of Lorn by the island of Easdale which lies just over 100m across the Sound of Easdale. A little passenger ferry
