Hats are de rigeur on the far side of Ailsa Craig.

Even although we have paddled round Ailsa Craig many times, we are always stunned by the teeming gannet colony on the SW cliffs. We could hardly hear ourselves shout over the constant croaking of the gannets. There are about 35,000 pairs nesting on the island in the spring and summer.

Ces nouveaux champions seront officiellement couronnés devant plus de 300 personnes ce samedi soir dans le cadre du Gala des Champions annuel qui se tiendra au Buffet Lazio sur le boulevard St-Martin à Laval à compter de 18h. On profitera de l’occasion pour distribuer les bourses et les bonis, sans oublier les trophées, rattachés aux différents championnats disputés sur la piste ovale de ce complexe pendant six mois entre mai et octobre. « C’est lors de cette soirée que l’on profitera de l’occasion pour annoncer les grandes lignes de la saison 2011 puisque le travail de préparation est déjà amorcé depuis plusieurs semaines, » de préciser Yves Ladouceur, le directeur des opérations courses à cette piste des Basses-Laurentides. On dévoilera également le calendrier provisoire bien que de nombreuses discussions se poursuivent pour la présentation des principales courses avec les organismes de sanction et des commanditaires d’importance. Une belle générosité Les représentants du commanditaire principal de la série Sportsman NASCAR Ippersiel lors des dernières saisons, dont le président Gino Ippersiel, seront sur place pour offrir une récompense non planifiée aux différents compétiteurs. « Ils ont décidé, en reconnaissance aux pilotes ayant supporté cette série au cours des deux dernières années, de remettre un chèque boni à tous les pilotes Sportsman qui seront présents lors de cette soirée. On pourrait atteindre la somme de 4 000 dollars, » d’ajouter Yves Ladouceur. Rappelons que c’est le jeune Steve Côté, 19 ans, qui est le nouveau champion de cette série après avoir détrôné Jonathan Bouvrette à l’issue d’une saison qui a été passionnante du début à la fin. Parmi les faits saillants 2010, il y a l’émergence du jeune Dave Coursol, la meilleure recrue après avoir terminé quatrième au championnat en plus d’être le champion en Sport Compact NASCAR Lucas Oil. Les autres champions qui seront couronnés lors de cette soirée il y aura Stéphane Aubin pour une deuxième année de suite en Légende Modifiée ANCA Lettrage Provan, Patrick Leporé en Production ANCA Centre Chiniara, Alain Tardif en Challenge 4 ANCA Meilleur Ramoneur et Marc-Antoine Demers en Sport Compact ANCA Lucas Oil. La soirée s’amorcera avec un cocktail de bienvenue à 18h00 qui sera suivi du souper et de la distribution des bourses, trophées en plus de quelques hommages le tout avec la musique d’un groupe de quatre musiciens ayant une grande réputation dans les « pubs » branchés du Vieux-Montréal. REVSTAR PR: Yannick Mathieu, un nouveau pilote Revstar

Les bonnes nouvelles se succèdent rapidement.  La série Revstar est fier d'accueillir dans ses rangs Yannick Mathieu, le fils d'un grand champion sur terre battue, le légendaire Bernard Mathieu. Yannick possède beaucoup d'expérience, il a d'ailleurs suivi les traces de son père en faisant ses débuts en sport automobile sur les pistes de Granby et Drummond dans la catégorie Sportsman avant de graduer dans la série maitresse des Modifé.

 

Par la suite, il s'est dirigé vers la série ProCam, une série de camionnette qui compétitionne sur les piste d'asphalte au Québec. Yannick a connu beaucoup de succès durant les 6 dernières année, soulignons qu'il a remporté le titre de champion au Riverside Speedway de Ste-Croix et une deuxième place au championnat Pro-Cam Cummins de ST-Eustache. Sa dernière victoire remonte au 17 août dernier au Riverside Speedway de Ste-Croix.   Depuis que Revstar a fait son apparition, Yannick avait toujours garder un oeil sur cette série. Comme il n'a jamais perdu le goût de la terre battue avec ses dérapages contrôlés qu'il affectionne particulièrement, Yannick voyait une série qui pouvait répondre à ses attentes. La série Revstar lui offre l'opportunité de courir sur l'asphalte et la terre battue dans un calendrier bien équilibré. Il pourra même renouer avec les courses sur glace où il s'était initié au sport automobile. Yannick et son équipe ont toujours démontré beaucoup de professionnalisme. Fier compétiteur, il devait investir toujours d'avantage pour se maintenir parmi les meilleurs. Maintenant, il pourra se battre à arme égale sans engloutir son budget puisque la série Revstar utilise des voitures Spec. Nul doute qu'avec le talent qu'il possède qu'il sera un adversaire coriace sur la piste.   Un bref rappel de sa carrière De 91 à 98, Yannick a fait ses débuts en course automobile sur glace au Stadiaume de St-Guillaume en classe TA. En 1995, il débute sur les pistes de terre battue. Il prendra part à quelques courses en Sportsman à Granby et Drummond dans la voiture no 87 de C.H. Racing. Durant 2 ans à partir de 1997, Yannick suit les traces de son père et fonde sa propre équipe de course sur terre battue. Il fera deux saisons complètes en Sportsman à Granby et Drummondville. En 2000 et jusqu'en 2004, il fait le saut dans la classe Modifié gros bloc. Il fera 5 saisons et particpera à la prestigieuse classique annuelle "Eastern States Week-end". En 2005, c'est le retrait de la classe Modifié gros bloc, Yannick réoriente sa carrière dans la classe Procam / Super Truck, une série touring qui évolue sur les piste d'asphalte. Yannick passera les 6 dernières saisons et se fera une solide réputation.   Yannick est fier de relever un nouveau défi. Il est conscient que le calibre de la série est relevé et c'est d'ailleurs une des raisons qui l'a incité à se joindre à Revstar. Bonne chance Yannick ! Republican Phil Scott has been elected Vermont's next Lieutenant Governor. The state senator defeated Democratic state Rep. Steve Howard and Progressive Marjorie Power in the race to succeed Republican Brian Dubie, who was running for governor.

 

By law, the Lieutenant Governor presides over the Senate, votes to break ties in that chamber and acts as Governor when the Governor is unavailable.

 

The 52-year-old Scott is a 3-time Late Model champion and 26-time winner at Barre, Vermont's Thunder Road International Speedbowl. Scott finished 3rd in 2010 Late Model points at the track. He is also a former American Canadian Tour (ACT) and Airborne Track Champion as well.

Le RPM Speedway a fait une entrée très remarquée en 2010 dans le monde des courses sur terre battue présentant des programmes de très haut niveau en allant même au-delà des attentes et voyant toutes les classes régulières emprunter ce circuit en offrant aux spectateurs des programmes remplis de sensations fortes et de duels enlevants.   La saison 2011 est déjà amorcée pour la direction du RPM Speedway !

 

Dans un élan de renouveau et ce tout en poursuivant sa mission de divertissement en course automobile sur terre battue, Jasmin Péloquin propriétaire et promoteur du RPM Speedway  continue sur sa lancée.  En effet, Jasmin Péloquin ainsi que Yan Bussière promoteur de l'Autodrome Drummond avaient amorcé des discussions au cours des dernières semaines et tout dernièrement, une entente entre les deux parties s'est officialisée.         Dans un communiqué de presse officiel, Yan Bussière a rendu public le fait de présenter des spectacles de courses sur terre battue les samedis soir pour une dizaine de programmes seulement. Le RPM Speedway a donc décidé d'acquérir les samedis soir qui devenaient libres afin de produire des programmes complets avec les classes maîtres ce qui devrait plaire aux nombreux amateurs.         Toutes les autres classes figurant sur la cédule 2010 seront de retour mais aucune décision officielle n’est encore prise à savoir si elles évolueront en programmes doubles les samedis après-midi ou si elle conserveront les dimanches. On our return to Otter Ferry with the shuttle car from Portavadie we could not help but notice that the Oystercatcher was open.We enjoyed some excellent Guinness (half pints, since we would both be driving within the hour) in the cozy surroundings but noticed that everyone else was sitting outside.We decided to join them for our meal......and we enjoyed it thoroughly......while watching a hazy
