Communiqué Pour diffusion immédiate Québec Le 13 octobre 2010     La Série SS Québec à 9 reprises dans la région de Québec en 2011.   C’est hier soir le 12 octobre, qu’un accord  a été accepté pour la saison 2011 entre la Série SS Québec représentée par André Poulin (Promoteur) et Yannick Gagnon (Directeur de course) et  les 3 pistes de la région de Québec soit : Le Riverside Speedway Ste-Croix représentée par Jean et Guillaume Bergeron et Sylvain Brouillette, l’autodrome Montmagny représentée par Kenny Thériault et Eric Robichaud et l’autodrome Chaudière de Vallée Jonction représentée par Michel et Pierre Lessard ainsi que  André Gagnon.

 

Chaque piste de la région recevra la Série SS Québec à 3 reprises durant la saison 2011. Pro All Stars Series news - PASS South 2011 Schedule released

Many Exciting Additions On Tap For 2011 PASS South Schedule   - Anderson Motor Speedway to host season opener on March 12 - North Wilkesboro Speedway to host $75,000 to win, 300 lap race in April - South Boston Speedway adds second date - Motor Mile Speedway and Gresham Motorsports Park return to schedule   For Immediate Release CHARLOTTE, NC (October 15) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials are pleased to announce the release of the 2011 schedule for the PASS South Super Late Models.  The schedule reflects the continued growth of the series with several new venues joining the list of premier facilities that PASS races at in the Southeast.  The season will begin with PASS South’s first trip to the Anderson (SC) Motor Speedway since 2007.  Track owner and promoter Sylvia Porter has made many improvements at the 47-year-old facility in Upstate South Carolina and will host the 2011 PASS South opener on Saturday, March 12.  PASS South will stay in the Palmetto State for race number two returning to Ron Barfield’s Dillon (SC) Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 26 for the 6th Annual South Carolina Clash.

 

On April 7-9, PASS returns to the Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina for the first of two events there.  Competitors from all across the country will race for 300 laps, paying $75,000 to the winner in the nation’s richest Super Late Model event.  In addition, PASS competitors who meet the proper requirements could win $100,000.  The Tour-type Modifieds will join the PASS South Super Late Models at North Wilkesboro in April for a 100 lap event paying $5,000 to win and $500 to start. The schedule remains the same: Pit gate opens at 8:00 AM and the first green flag flies at 1:00 PM

The great eagle of Eileach an Naoimh

The exposed NW cooast of Eileach an Naoimh inthe Garvellach Isles is a wondrous place. This great stone eagle stretches its wings over a tiny paddler, who is lost in the scale of the place.Usually the swell is too big to get in this close. We had looped round the Garvellachs in a figure of eight, so that we would paddle this bit later in the day, when the sun had come round...You can see why!

Pencils and Music no more?

Regular visitors may have noticed Pencils and Music on the blogroll. It was one of the first pencil blogs I found on the internet, and very entertaining, too. It has been taken down; not for long I hope.

Stabilo Swano 4907

Quick review time, again: this one is for a pack of four Stabil Swano 4907 pencils. I bought this pack in a branch of Ryman's (a chain of stationers' here in England) for £1.69, which is about 43 pence per pencil.

They come in bright - almost livid - fluorescent colours. The four colours used - yellow, green, pink and orange - match the four basic colours used by Stabilo for their famous Boss highlighter pens. Each pencil is armed with an eraser tip in the same colour as the paint on the pencil, attached by an aluminium ferrule.

In the hand, the Swano handles like any other hexagonal pencil. The wood is good quality and sharpens well, and the eraser does its job adequately enough. The edges are slightly rounded, so it does not dig into fingers. The painting is nicely done and markings are understated; no foil blocking here, just the name, barcode and some serial numbering, but there is no country of origin information printed. I guess these pencils are made in Stabilo's factory in the Czech Republic, but if anyone knows better, please let me know in the comments.

I used one of these pencils for a day or so to write notes at work. The lead is a dark and soft HB. On paper it does not feel scratchy, nor very smooth, but gritty; I can liken the feel of it to writing on sandpaper. It's not unpleasant, but it does not glide on the paper, if that is what you want. This utilitarian pencil is clearly designed for school in mind, and a four-pack should last a whole school year.

In short, the Swano 4907 is a decent-quality pencil that is fun to use but which you would not lose sleep over if it was stolen from your desk in class.

For Immediate Release: Media, contact Norm Desjardins @ (603) 387-5598 Blaney and Peltier battle for PASS South supremacy Saturday at Newport  NAPLES ME (10/12) This Mason-Dixon Meltdown is the traditional final round of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late model season and the showdown for the 2010 championship is the kind that race fans dream of. Ryan Blaney and Preston Peltier are locked in a battle that could easily come down to a last lap change in position or even a tie breaker when the pair slug it out at the Meltdown’s latest venue, Newport (TN) Speedway on Saturday October 16.

 

Blaney leads Peltier by just four points and there’s a two point spread between each finishing position. Peltier needs to gain three spots to take the crown and you can bet that the hard charger will go all out to finish in front of Blaney.  But the teenage short track superstar has made it clear that he knows his way around Newport and Peltiers’ task will not be an easy one. Blaney won the Daniel Boone Classic at Newport earlier this season and the 2009 PASS South rookie of the year has proven that he’s got what it takes to earn the championship. Both drivers have three visits to PASS victory lane and nine top tens in the series’ first twelve races, so it’s only fitting that they battle it out for the title in the season finale. There’s a tough group of northern invaders that will make their way south for the Meltdown. 2010 PASS North champ Johnny Clark has filed an entry ; he has  a Mason-Dixon Meltdown win  at South Boston (VA) Speedway  but he’s new to the high banks of Newport. 2009 PASS South and PASS National champion Ben Rowe will make the trip .He’s the defending Mason Dixon Meltdown champion and he will look to wrap up his PASS season on a high note.  Trevor Sanborn has both PASS South and North wins to his credit and he will wheel Richard Moody’s potent machine. The field will be a deep one with Jay Fogleman, Andy Loden, Tennessee’s own Heath Hindman, John Batten, Steve Legendre, Tim Pinion, Brad McCaskill , Jake Crum, Jimmy Weller and many more on the early entry list. Its 200 green flag laps around one of the fastest and toughest tracks that PASS South visits, so anything can happen, and it probably will! The Mason Dixon Meltdown is the finale for the five race PASS National Championship series and in that battle Peltier leads Johnny Clark by twelve and Jay Fogleman by thirty one.  The winner will have raced from Maine to Florida in their quest for the title, the trophy, and the Quarter Master Industries product award that goes with it. There’s a whole lot more to this years’ edition of the Mason-Dixon Meltdown than 200 green flag laps of super late model excitement. On Friday October 15 Moonshine Madness will feature PASS practice from noon until 4:00 PM and at 7:00 PM there’s fifty lap features for street stocks, front wheel drives and mod fours. A 75 lap limited sportsman shootout caps off the racing activities and live music will follow. On Saturday October 16 the PASS Super Late Models practice at noon, time trial at 4:00 PM and race their last chance qualifier at 5:15 PM. There’s a big money Legends race, and Bandoleros on Saturday’s card, and the Mason Dixon Meltdown is scheduled for a 6:00 PM green. When the fireworks on the speedway are over, a huge fireworks display will light up the Tennessee sky. Autodrome St-Eustache: Marc-Antoine Demers, champion à l'ASE

Communiqué de presse   Dans le cadre du Challenge 200 Oxygène 640 à l'autodrome St-Eustache   Marc-Antoine Demers, le dernier champion couronné !      ST-EUSTACHE –  C'est maintenant terminé au niveau des différents championnats de stock-car  à l'autodrome de St-Eustache alors que l'on a profité de la présentation de l'épreuve de type Enduro, Challenge 200 Oxygène 640, pour couronner le titulaire dans la Chasse Sport Compact ANCA Lucas Oil.

 

C'est dans le cadre d'une dernière finale de 100 tours qu'on a mis un terme aux différents championnats 2010 de toutes les classes en compétition sur l'ovale de quatre dixièmes de mille.   En s'imposant lors de deux des trois courses de la Chasse Sport Compact ANCA Lucas Oil, le pilote de Le Gardeur (Repentigny), Marc-Antoine Demers a décroché son premier titre. Son triomphe a été sans équivoque alors qu'il a remporté la deuxième et la troisième manche de ce mini-championnat de trois épreuves.   Lors de cette ultime confrontation, Demers a eu raison de Stéphane Gauvreau qui était au volant de la voiture de Benoit Ayotte retenu à l'extérieur du pays, Dominique Jacques de Vallée-Jonction, Steve Beauchamp qui était de retour en piste en fin de saison après une semi-retraite, et Jocelyn Gagnon.   Après avoir remporté sa qualification, Demers occupait la première place au départ, position qu'il a conservé jusqu'au 82 tour, soit lors de la troisième neutralisation de ce 100 tours. À la reprise, Gauvreau l'a surpris par l'extérieur, mais il a pu le repasser trois tours plus tard avant d'être le premier à croiser la ligne d'arrivée.   Le grand perdant de cette course a été le jeune Dave Coursol, le champion en Sport Compact NASCAR Lucas Oil, qui roulait solidement en deuxième place avant d'être la victime d'une faute manœuvre de Jean-François Martineau. Il n'a pu compléter, tout comme Jason Morand victime d'un bris durant la première neutralisation au 42e tour. Lui aussi était deuxième au moment de son bris.   Si les deux premières places au championnat de Demers et Ayotte sont confirmées, il faudra attendre les dernières vérifications pour la compilation finale des positions de cette Chasse Sport Compact ANCA Lucas Oil au cours des prochains jours.   Rappelons que les autres champions pour la saison 2010 sont : Steve Côté (Sportsman NASCAR Ippersiel), Dave Coursol (Sport Compact NASCAR Lucas Oil), Stéphane Aubin (Légende Modifiée ANCA Lettrage Provan), Patrick Leporé (Production ANCA Centre Chiniara) et Alain Tardif (Challenge 4 ANCA Meilleur Ramoneur).   Beaucoup de voitures en piste   Comme c'est souvent le cas pour la présentation des épreuves de type Enduro, on a accueilli un nombre très élevé de voitures. Il y en avait plus de 100 dans le paddock à l'heure du midi. Malgré quelques bris et incidents lors des essais et des qualifications, la majorité des voitures présentes se sont présentées pour le départ de ce Challenge 200 Oxygène 640.   Il y en avait finalement 105 lorsqu'on a abaissé le drapeau vert, mais 200 tours plus tard, après 14 interruptions, il n'en restait qu'une trentaine roulant sur la piste après un peu plus de deux heures.   Pendant plus de 150 tours, on a eu droit à une belle bataille entre l'éventuel vainqueur Normand Boyer, un vétéran de Châteauguay qui a été le seul à compléter la distance, Raymond Potvin qui a terminé avec un tour de retard et Patrick Boucher qui a été éliminé à 25 tours de l'arrivée après la fausse manœuvre d'un pilote qui accusait plusieurs tours de retard.   Lui et Boyer ont échangé la position de tête à plusieurs reprises. Potvin a également occupé la position de leader, mais n'a pu résister à la remontée de Boyer et Boucher.   Selon la compilation officieuse, et avant la vérification complète des voitures, la victoire a été octroyée à Normand Boyer devant Réal Potvin, Tommy Pizzardi, Stéphane Huet, Éric Fournier, Stéphane Langevin, Maxime Latendresse, Maxime Tardif, Sylvain Caron et Maxime Dumas.   D'ici la fin   Dimanche prochain on complétera pour les événements sur la piste ovale avec la présentation de l'Enduro 250 Oxygène 640, cette fois pour toutes les voitures (4-6-8 cylindres) ayant un empattement de 98 pouces et plus.   « Nous pourrions nous retrouver avec plus de 125 voitures inscrites pour cette course qui mettra un terme à notre saison de stock-car, » a précisé Yves Ladouceur, le directeur de course à cette piste des Basses-Laurentides.   Finalement, le dernier événement de l'année 2010 à l'autodrome St-Eustache sera la première édition d'un événement spectaculaire, le « Smashfest » d'Halloween le samedi 30 octobre avec remise au lendemain en cas de pluie.   Rappelons que le Banquet des Champions aura lieu le samedi 4 novembre prochain à Laval et les billets pour assister à cette soirée sont présentement en vente au bureau de l'autodrome St-Eustache.     Source : Autodrome St-Eustache (450) 472-6222/(514) 591-4388 10 octobre 2010

 

 

ACT: Brian Hoar Claims Seventh ACT Tour Title - Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. Dominates Waterford 150

Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. Dominates Waterford 150 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                             ACT-101010 Waterford, CT – Hudson, NH’s Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., a.k.a. Joey Pole, continued his American Canadian Tour hot streak with a dominating win in the final ACT Late Model Tour event of the 2010 season. Pole led 137 laps of the Waterford 150 at Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT. The 21 year old has now won his last three ACT events including the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in September and the Milk Bowl at Thunder Road last week (Oct. 3).

 

Williston, VT’s Brian Hoar finished second and claimed his record tying seventh ACT Late Model Tour Championship. Hoar also leads the all-times ACT Late Model Tour wins list with 28 including three during the 2010 season. Hoar was also the only competitor to finish inside the top ten in all 13 Tour events this season. Glen Luce finished third after qualifying on the outside pole position. He was followed by Joey Laquerre and Brad Babb completing the top five. Babb’s fifth place finish earned him the 2010 ACT Late Model Tour Rookie of the Year Award. Brent Dragon and Randy Potter finished sixth and seventh, respectively, the final two cars on the lead lap. Lee USA Speedway Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. took eighth followed by John Donahue and Jason Palmer rounding out the top ten. The 150 lap event was completed with just two cautions on laps 56 and 66 and was completed in 47 minutes and 29 seconds. Nineteen of the twenty-five starters were on the track for the checkered flag. All results are unofficial. The 2010 ACT Late Model Tour season has come to a close with 13 point counting events completed. St-Valère: La saison est terminée à l'Autodrome St-Valère.com

Communiqué de presse (09-10-10)   Autodrome St-Valère.com   LES CHAMPIONS SONT MAINTENANT CONNUS   La saison est maintenant chose du passé en ce qui concerne l’Autodrome St-Valère.com et les champions sont maintenant connus, puisque le dernier programme s’est déroulé, samedi après-midi. Seuls Stéphane Létourneau de Victoriaville dans la catégorie Pick-Up (camionnettes) et Daniel Bilodeau de Warwick en Pro-Stock ont été en mesure de coiffer cette première couronne avec une visite dans le cercle des vainqueurs lors de cette journée qui regroupait 142 inscriptions.

 

C’est cependant en 4 Cylindres que la lutte a été la plus intense tout au long du calendrier. Hier, Carl Poudrier de St-Christophe a tout donné pour déloger François Dupuis de Princeville du premier rang en Super 4. En enregistrant sa deuxième victoire d’affilée et sa quatrième de la saison, Poudrier est venu à un «cheveu» d’atteindre son objectif et ce n’est que seulement par deux petits points qu’il a dû concéder le titre. Lors de cette dernière finale, Éric Provencher de Warwick a pris la deuxième place et Mario Champagne de St-Norbert, la troisième. Quant à Dupuis, il n’a pas terminé l’épreuve.   François Champigny de Victoriaville est celui qui a triomphé dans l’autre finale en 4 Cylindres.   Dominic Croteau de Victoriaville a bien tenté d’améliorer son classement en 6 Cylindres en l’emportant devant son concitoyen Dany Bouchard et Samuel Hébert de St-Samuel qui en prenant place sur la troisième marche du podium, s’est assuré la couronne devant Bouchard et Croteau alors qu’en 8 Cylindres, la victoire est allée à Éric Fontaine de Bécancour devant Dave Tourigny et Bertrand Hébert, tous deux de St-Valère. Même s’il n’a pas été en mesure de terminer, Samuel Hébert a mérité son deuxième titre.   Tel que mentionné, Stéphane Létourneau de Victoriaville a terminé la saison en beauté en s’assurant la couronne avec sa cinquième victoire. Ses dernières victimes ont été Steeve Vallée de St-Valère et Yann Daigle de Cleveland tandis qu’en Pro-Stock, Daniel Bilodeau de Warwick a imité Létourneau. Il s’agissait de son troisième succès du calendrier. Il a été suivi au fil par Marco Lainesse de Boucherville et Steve Dubé de St-Samuel.   Victime d’un spectaculaire capotage durant la saison, Steve Ramsay de St-Christophe n’a jamais baissé les bras. Troisième derrière Vincent Ramsay de St-Christophe et Frédéric Héon de Victoriaville, Steve termine au premier rang du cumulatif avec une priorité de 65 points de Héon alors qu’en Modifié, Francis Labonté de St-Christophe a décroché un premier titre. Hier, c’est Mathieu Labonté de Victoriaville qui a triomphé avec le bolide de Francis.     Finalement, chez les dames, c’est également en 4 Cylindres que l’on a assisté à un intéressant duel entre Marilou Hébert de St-Valère et Caroline Landry de Princeville. Hier, c’est Caroline qui a triomphé, mais avec sa deuxième position, Marilou a mérité le championnat par la faible marge de cinq petits points tandis qu’en 6 et 8 Cylindres France Levasseur de St-Valère a triomphé devant Josée Girouard de Princeville et Jessica Bergeron de Victoriaville, mais le titre appartient à Nancy Marcotte de St-Valère qui détenait une forte avance.   Les champions de cette première saison seront officiellement fêtés lors d’une soirée au cours de laquelle, le fonds de points sera distribué parmi les plus méritants de chaque catégorie . Ce rendez-vous est pour le 30 octobre prochain au Resto-Bar l’Évasion de Victoriaville. Dans la salle, située au deuxième étage, la remise débutera à 21 heures, mais auparavant tous les coureurs sont invités à prendre le souper sur place.
